TM Tecnologia Uses OCI to Achieve 100% System Uptime and Save Lives

TM Tecnologia led the way in overseeing diagnostic medicine labs in Brazil for more than 26 years. In order to deliver the innovation that the market for diagnostic technologies demands, we have consistently pushed limits. We process over 360 million tests annually for over 72 million patients, using more than 2,000 authorized collection units, providing faster and more secure diagnostic technologies.

In order to give our clients continuously excellent service and fast reaction times, TM Tecnologia has to optimize the performance and stability of its IT infrastructure. Prior to implementing Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), we oversaw a shared data center that was expensive and complicated. The user experience was being adversely affected by data processing delays resulting from outdated network setups.

The reason why TM Tecnologia selected Oracle was that OCI had the best cost-benefit ratio available.

The reason why TM Tecnologia selected Oracle was that OCI had the best cost-benefit ratio available.

OCI’s advanced security features, scalability possibilities, and promise of improved cost control made it stand out. Additionally, Oracle’s standing in the industry and the full integration that OCI provides via APIs had an impact on us.

Findings: “TM Tecnologia saw a 30% improvement in online report release and generation.”

TM Tecnologia had major benefits from the use of OCI, such as automatic management of seasonal resources and server allocation that was adjusted in response to demand during peak periods. System availability increased significantly to 100%, guaranteeing continuous operation around-the-clock. For interface systems with over 300 hospitals, we centralized local database backups with lower expenses and more effective automatic management.

Upgrading to Oracle Enterprise from the standard database version allowed for significant breakthroughs in database management, which is another important improvement. Better performance was made possible by this improvement, which made full use of the infrastructure’s processing capability through parallelism.

We also put security measures in place, such as encryption and anonymization of sensitive data, to guarantee better privacy and control over patient data and to comply with all applicable laws, including the LGPD. We built a disaster recovery system in a different cloud zone to further improve client security.

Oracle Autonomous Data Warehouse still helps TM with independent analysis and reporting, automated management, and cost savings. Additionally, we combined Oracle Analytics with a Business Intelligence (BI) tool to offer a strong answer to the information needs of managers. Additionally, we used OCI’s API to automate previously manual tasks like load balancing and firewall configuration.

TM Tecnologia automated the billing process with all these advancements, reducing the time from 40 minutes to just 5, saving 10 times the amount of time. Online report creation and release times improved by 30% as a result of a 20% increase in report release speed and response time. The number of support calls attributed to slowness and instability dropped by 15%. There was a 23% increase in database requests and transactions. In the end, patients saw a 15% increase in service delivery speed.
